About TagShare
Our Story
Have you ever seen something amazing in someone's home and thought, "I need to have that," only to leave empty-handed without knowing where to find it?
That's exactly what happened to me, Tim, the founder of TagShare, during what should have been a routine beach vacation.
My wife and I were staying at an Airbnb in Hilton Head Island, SC. While most beach rentals feature the expected coastal décor—seashells, ocean paintings, and nautical themes—this place was different. It was modern, tasteful, and featured pieces that stopped us in our tracks.
One piece in particular captured our imagination: a stunning canvas painting of a supernova. This wasn't your typical mass-produced art—it had deep textures and vibrant colors reminiscent of Hubble telescope images of distant galaxies. Painted with only a pallette knife, from what I could tell. It was breathtaking.
We wanted to know more. Who was the artist? Where could we buy something similar? But, we couldn't decipher the signature, and our web searches led nowhere. Frustrated, we eventually gave up, realizing how difficult it is to connect physical objects to their digital sources.
That's when it hit us: this wasn't just our loss. It was a three-way missed opportunity:
• We, as interested buyers, couldn't find the art we loved
• The host, who clearly had excellent taste, missed a chance to earn from recommending the artist
• The artist lost not only our sale but all the potential future customers we might have brought them
This experience revealed a fundamental disconnect in our increasingly connected world: beautiful physical objects exist all around us, but the bridge to purchasing them is often missing.
The Birth of TagShare
From this frustration, TagShare was born—a simple yet powerful way to connect the physical and digital worlds. Our Share Tags transform everyday items into opportunities for discovery, connection, and mutual benefit.
With a small but dedicated team, we launched in August 2024 with a mission to empower homeowners, hosts, and small business owners to turn their spaces and the products they love into sources of passive income.
By October 2024, our pilot program was underway, with early adopters providing invaluable feedback that helped us refine our vision. Now, as we prepare for our full launch in Spring 2025, we're excited to build a community where:
• Consumers can easily discover and purchase products they encounter in real life
• Product owners earn passive income from their taste and recommendations
• Brands and creators benefit from authentic, personal endorsements
At TagShare, we believe that every object tells a story and has untapped potential. Our mission is to unlock that potential, creating a more connected world where discovery leads to reward for everyone involved.
Join us on this journey as we revolutionize how we interact with the objects around us—one Tag at a time.
